Task templates
Reusable checklists that create a parent task with its subtasks, so repeat jobs start the same way every time.
What a task template is
A task template is a saved checklist. Using it creates a real parent task with a subtask for each item, so a repeat job such as a technical audit starts the same way every time and nothing gets forgotten. Manage templates under Settings › Task templates.
The three built-in templates
Technical Audit
A full technical SEO audit, from crawl to recommendations. High priority, flagged as technical. Ten subtasks: crawl the website, review indexation, status codes, canonicals, redirects, the sitemap, robots.txt, structured data and internal links, then produce recommendations.
Content Brief
Research and write a content brief for a target query. Medium priority. Eight subtasks: identify the target query, analyse search intent, analyse the SERPs, review competing pages, define the content structure, define internal links, create the brief and send it for client review.
Monthly SEO Review
The monthly review of performance, issues and next steps. Medium priority. Nine subtasks: review Search Console, GA4, rankings, conversions, technical issues, content performance and competitors, identify opportunities and create next month’s tasks.
Make your own
- Open Settings › Task templates.
- To start from an existing one, choose Copy. The copy is named with “(copy)” and is yours to change. To start fresh, choose New template.
- Give it a name, a description and a default priority.
- List the subtasks, one per line, in the form
title | days | tech. The number is the days from the parent’s due date, andtechmarks a subtask as technical work. For example:Check hreflang | 2 | tech. - Save. Built-in templates can be edited and copied but not deleted. Templates you made can be deleted, and tasks already created from them are kept.
Where templates are used
The client onboarding wizard offers templates for the client’s first tasks, so a new client can start with a technical audit and a monthly review already on the list. Template tasks are real tasks: assign them, set due dates, share them with the client or send them for approval like any other.

| Task template | One parent task with subtasks | A checklist you repeat |
| Playbook | A draft strategy with objectives, workstreams and starter tasks | Starting a whole engagement |
| Recurring task | The next copy of a task each time you complete it | Work that happens on a schedule |
Common questions
Who can manage templates?
Administrators and SEO Managers, the roles that can manage clients. See Roles and permissions.
Will editing a template change tasks I already created?
No. Tasks created from a template are ordinary tasks and do not change when the template does.
